Minister: Germany won’t block Poland giving Ukraine tanks

Annalena Baerbock has no objection if Warsaw sends German-made Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.

In an interview with French television network LCI, when asked what would happen if Poland goes ahead and sends its Leopard 2 tanks without Germany’s approval, Burbok said through an interpreter: “At the moment that issue has not been raised ” from Poland, which is required to submit an official request to Berlin, the minister clarified. “But if asked, we won’t stand in the way.”

Earlier today, Poland said it would send its German-made tanks to Ukraine even if Germany did not and announced it would take a diplomatic initiative in Europe if Berlin did not.

“We will not stand idly by and watch Ukraine bleed to death,” Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki tweeted.
